Mindful litter week 7 and 8…

 In Diary M Litter

The last full week with the Mindful puppies with the puppy test at the end and week 8 which was all about enjoying the little ones to the fullest and the administration before departure…the least pleasant thing about having a litter, and preparing myself to be left without puppies at the end of week 8 with ’empty litter syndrome’!

During the puppy test, the characters and work abilities are tested to determine which puppy is best suited to which family. Unfortunately my regular testers could not because of the corona limitations, but luckily I quickly found a solution. Marloes van Rijt has often helped in recent years when the puppies were tested and Leonie Schimmer has a lot of expertise to be able to ‘read’ the puppies properly…Marloes testing and Leonie translated what she saw on paper, it turned out to be a golden opportunity.

How we enjoyed the Mindful little ones and their antics and laughed a lot. The puppies clearly had a lot of passion for retrieving, super smart, very people-oriented, good to correct and very relaxed at times when necessary. Absolutely puppies that can be used to do something that will delight both owner and dog … thoroughly dual purpose Flatcoated Retrievers as we like to see them. After seeing the puppies during the test, we were able to conclude that JoJo & Terrence has given us what we strive for. Of course we have made a well-organized album so you can see what is being done with the puppies during the puppy test…hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we did!

Week 8…photoshoot and fully enjoy the last days together, with mixed feelings of course. A small album with the experiences of the last 1,5 weeks and the photoshoot tells more than words. With thanks to Ann Willems for the help during the photoshoot and Rudy Gerinxck for taking the beautiful photos.

That they have good noses was already clear in the litter and during the puppy test, to see what they do with their noses under completely different circumstances and how tolerant they are when they ‘work’ I had found a nice way to test…the sniffer mat with chunks on the swing, it was a success and the Mindful’s surprised me, they couldn’t get enough of it!
