L-Litter Birth…

 In Diary L Litter

The “cocktail” care for 13 newborn puppies and their mother, the adult dogs and associated organization of the Championship clubmatch of the NFRV… then you have a “cocktail” that is almost impossible to drink!

Fortunately I managed to hold my ground and everything went perfectly. Thanks to Ellen van der Meijden and Hermine van Erp, the dogs and puppies were in good hands on Friday evening and Saturday, but the update was delayed …

The birth was quite an experience for Janis, from nothing to suddenly 13 puppies that she takes care of is a strange sensation. Janis immediately took her task seriously from the first puppy and as an experienced mother she took care of her little ones despite the fact that this is her first litter. Again wonderful to see how the instinct works, no books read in advance, Google not consulted and no puff course followed but just knowing what to do is a miracle in itself.

Geboorte L-Nest 1

The first puppy was born at 6 p.m. and number 2 soon followed. Immediately informed Vivianne, the owner of Chester, so that she could be present in time for the delivery. The distribution went equal and at 02.30 the last puppy was born, all with excellent weights for a litter of 13.

13 puppies, quite a worry, one thing you know for sure at that moment…besides enjoying mother and her little ones, it will also be many sleepless nights for Janis and me! From day two the puppies need to be fed in order to spare Janis a bit and to ensure that the puppies have a good start for the future, something that I would of course like to pay for.
